Blackhawks pull away from Oilers

Hockey Betting Lines

03/03/2010 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jonathan Toews, Dave Bolland and Marian Hossa each collected a goal and one assist as Chicago tallied three times in the third period to subdue Edmonton, 5-2, at United Center.

Dustin Byfuglien and Niklas Hjalmarsson also lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, winners in five of their last six games.

Cristobal Huet picked up the win with a 12-save performance for Chicago, which pulled even with idle San Jose for the top spot in the Western Conference with 89 points.

Robert Nilsson and Shawn Horcoff scored for the Oilers, who have dropped three in a row and seven of eight. Devan Dubnyk was deluged in the loss for all five goals on 47 shots.

Edmonton, which holds the distinction of the worst record in the NHL at 19-38-6, made deals at the trade deadline.

The club unloaded veteran defenseman Steve Staios to rival Calgary for defenseman Aaron Johnson and a third-round draft pick, then acquired defenseman Ryan Whitney and a 2010 sixth-round draft pick from Anaheim for blueliner Lubomir Visnovsky. The Oilers also claimed forward Ryan Jones off waivers from Nashville.

Hjalmarsson's blast opened the scoring in the third period for a 3-2 Blackhawks lead 20 seconds in.

Byfuglien doubled the advantage on a power play at 9:24, when his second- chance poke at a rebound in the crease found its way past Dubnyk.

Toews then unleashed a sizzling wrister from the right circle and Chicago led 5-2 with 3:44 left in regulation.

Following a scoreless first period, Chicago took a 1-0 lead in a 4-on-4 situation on Hossa's shot at 3:26 of the second.

Edmonton came back with two goals in a 52-second span. Nilsson poked a shot past Huet's attempt to cover it in the crease at 15:31, then Horcoff's wrister through a screen went in at 16:23.

Bolland netted the equalizer for the 'Hawks inside of two minutes left in the period.

MySportsbook.com week 1 NFL lines

Now that the 2008 NFL schedule is finally out, it is only matter-of-course for lines on “Week 1” to follow.  Of course MySportsbook.com is the first to churn out odds for the NFL’s inaugural week for the upcoming season.   Expect a lot of fireworks the first Thursday night of the season as the defending champion Indianapolis Colts face off against the surprise of the 2008 season, the New Orleans Saints.  These teams were ranked #1 and #3 in the NFL respectively a season ago so a high scoring affair could be in order.  As of now, the Colts will be giving 6 points to the Saints; keep in mind the Saints were one of the better road teams last season going 6-3 SU and 7-2 ATS.  The first Monday night of the season will again provide a “double feature”. Coming off a disappointing season, the Cincinnati Bengals will look to get back to playoffs and improve their public image as they take on the AFC North favorite Baltimore Ravens.  The second game features a couple of teams that haven’t had too much success recently but each could make some noise if the NFC is as weak as it was last year as the San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals. The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.
