Blue Devils come north to challenge Eagles
NCAA Basketball Betting Lines
02/06/2010 -
Chestnut Hill, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - For the second time in less than a month,
the Duke Blue Devils and Boston College Eagles will meet on the hardwood, this
time doing so at Silvio O. Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
Duke, which comes in sporting an 18-4 record and the No. 10 ranking in the
most recent AP Poll, took care of No. 21 Georgia Tech on Thursday night in an
86-67 final at home. It was an impressive effort by the Blue Devils, who were
beaten in their previous outing at Georgetown, 89-77. Duke is 6-2 in the ACC,
but where the team has struggled has been away from home, going just 1-4 in
true road games thus far.
Boston College has been up-and-down all year, never winning more than three
games in a row, but never losing more than three straight either. The Eagles
have dropped five of their last seven games, but alternated wins and losses
over their last four. The most recent encounter had BC hosting Florida State
last weekend, that clash resulting in a 61-57 setback as the team fell to 8-5
at home. The Eagles are 3-5 in ACC play.
Duke owns an 11-2 edge in the all-time series with BC, and the Blue Devils
have won three of the previous four meetings in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles are
just 1-9 against Duke since joining the ACC.
Kyle Singler scored a career-high 30 points behind a stellar 8-of-10 effort
from three-point range helping Duke claim an 86-67 win over Georgia Tech on
Thursday night. Jon Scheyer added 21 points, seven assists and two steals,
while Nolan Smith chipped in with 14 points and four assists. Duke hit the
mark on 12-of-18 three-point attempts, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 36-9 from
beyond the arc. The Blue Devils posted a 17-1 edge in points off turnovers and
won the rebounding battle as well. Scheyer, Smith and Singler are the NCAA's
most productive trio, combining for 53.6 ppg. In addition to Singler's scoring
touch, he is the team's leading rebounder (7.1 rpg), while Scheyer, a Bob
Cousy Award Finalist, serves as its primary playmaker (5.7 apg). As a team,
Duke is outscoring the opposition by roughly 19 ppg (82.1 to 63.0), while
shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from long range and 76.6
percent from the free-throw line.
Although they haven't been able to consistently win games, the Eagles own
favorable margins in scoring (+4.9) and rebounding (+5.5). They feature four
double-digit scorers in the starting lineup, beginning with Joe Trapani and
his 14.5 ppg. Trapani also paces the club in three-pointers (35), blocks (19)
and rebounds (6.5 rpg). Reggie Jackson is netting 13.6 ppg while also grabbing
5.8 rpg, and Corey Raji chips in with 11.4 points and 6.4 caroms per contest.
Rakim Sanders rounds out the offensive-minded quartet with 10.9 ppg, although
his 38.2 percent shooting from the field and 28.8 percent from three-point
range are in dire need of improvement. Sanders scored a game-high 17 points,
and Trapani contributed 15 more, but those effort were wasted as BC dropped a
four-point decision at home to Florida State last weekend. The Eagles were
outrebounded (39-22) in the game, and attempted just four free throws -- their
lowest total in more than a decade. They did do a good job in defending the
three-pointer, as the Seminoles made just 1-of-13 from beyond the arc.

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl
NFL Super Bowl Betting
The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
