The striker was on fire and didn't stop there. In the 72nd, Da Silva put the hat-trick in the books before Colautti added a little redemption in the 88th, but time ran out for an equalizing chance for the home team.

With the 4-3 win, Croatia ended Israel's seven-year unbeaten streak in Tel Aviv.

In other EURO 2008 play on Wednesday, Russia also came out the victor with a 2-0 defeat of Macedonia on a pair of first half tallies to bring the squad to second in Group E play with eight points.

In Group A, Mika Nurmela's tally was all Finland needed in its 1-0 triumph over Armenia, moving to the top of Group A with 11 points in four matches. Poland visited Belgium to meet another seven-point Group A team, as the visitors emerged on top 1-0, skyrocketing to second place in the standings. Portugal rounded out this group's play with a 3-0 win over Kazakhstan on a pair of goals from Simao, along with a Christiano Ronaldo tally at the half-hour mark.

In Group D, Germany ended its winning streak with a 1-1 stalemate against Cyprus, while Ireland blew-out San Marino 5-0 for its first win in group play, as San Marino has yet to get that W.
